Unmei - 2006

The music of Brian Owen is as difficult to categorize as it is finely crafted. His nuanced sensibilities and unconventional creative impulses have made him in constant demand as a writer and performer in the Los Angeles music scene. Brian is unafraid of blending genres and working in new music technology.

Brian has written music for big band, brass quintet, string quartet, horn sections and small group jazz projects of all shapes and sizes. His recent compositions can be heard on the short film “It's a Googleful Life,” the Elliot Deutsch Big Band album “Weeknight Songs,” and in clubs all throughout Los Angeles. Brian has also been commissioned to write several podcast show themes, video games, horn section arrangements, and big band music for middle and high school.

Owen holds an M.M degree in Jazz Performance from California State University, Long Beach and a B.A. Degree in music from Central Washington University.
